If you own, manage or operate a business, you will need to comply with fire safety law. The main law is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 or "the Fire Safety Order" which applies across England and Wales and came into force on 1 October 2006.

Walton Consultancy UK Limited provides a Fire Risk Assessment service to aid your company in its compliance with the Fire Safety Order. The Fire Safety Order requires that every company employing more than five people must carry out a fire risk assessment of the property in which any person is employed and this fire risk assessment must be a written document.

A fire risk assessment complying with the Fire Safety Order must follow certain common procedures and must be continuously updated to reflect any changes made to the property or way in which it is used and, at the very least, must be renewed on an annual basis.

Walton Consultancy UK Limited carry out assessments following industry standards and produce both the assessment and any recommendations to improve existing situations.

In preparing a detailed fire risk assessment identifying the risks and hazards in the premises Walton Consultancy UK Limited include the following:

• Document the findings including noting who may be especially at risk
• Recommendations on eliminating or reducing the risk from fire as far as is reasonably practical
• Recommendations on providing general fire precautions to deal with any risk.
• Recommendations on taking additional measures to ensure fire safety where flammable or explosive materials are used or stored.
• Create a plan to deal with any emergency
• Record where maintenance is required of general fire precautions and facilities provided for use by fire-fighters
• Instruct on where any findings of the risk assessment must be kept under review
