Health and Safety (John Walton) was formed in 2007 in order to expand on the coverage and services previously offered by John Walton on a freelance basis. John Walton remains in place as proprietor.

John Walton has been working in the construction industry since 1973 and during that period has amassed a wealth of experience dealing with the successful execution of projects ranging from a few thousand to two million pounds.
In addition to that experience he is qualified by examination as an accredited Energy Assessor and by examination as a Registered Member of the Association for Project Safety (APS). Success in both examinations requires the ability to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of each highly specialised field. John Walton IMaPS can help as a CDM advisor and in the role of “Principal Designer”. John is a Registered Member of the Association for Project Safety and has recently passed the APS examination designed to show competence in the 2015 CDM Regulations.
John also had proven competence prior to this as - what was previously called - a CDM Coordinator as laid out in the old Approved Code of Practice for Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007.
In April 2015 the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM) were altered by the Health & Safety Executive and CDM 2015 was introduced and CDM 2007 was completely revoked. One of the changes included in the legislation was to introduce a role of “Principal Designer” and another abolished the role of CDM Co-ordinator.
The Health & Safety Executive introduced many other changes in the new legislation not least of which is to make a domestic project fully subject to the Regulations. Many people remain unaware of these changes, but the Health & Safety Executive takes the view that anyone undertaking a construction project should know what their duties are. This is fine for Clients who are regularly commissioning construction work as they will have teams and advisors around them who should be aware of the Regulations. However, Clients occasionally procuring construction work and householders employing contractors are very unlikely to have any idea of their legal obligations.
